We are delighted to announce that we are relaunching The London International Ska Festival. I promoted the first one back in 1988 at The Brixton Fridge with Laurel Aitken, Bad Manners, Potato 5, The Loafers, Hotknives, The Deltones, Napolean Solo, Capone and The Bullets and Skin Deep.

The next edition will be held at the beautiful Clapham Grand Theatre on Thursday 21st April through to Sunday 24th April 2011, and feature 23 bands and 9 boss DJs from around the world.

Website will be launched shortly, along with the announcement of the headliners. If you’d like to be added to the festival’s mailing list and be the first to hear about tickets email enquiries@rockersrevolt.com and put London Ska Fest in the subject line.

We are delighted to announce that we have signed the Bristol sensation known as BABYHEAD to our Rockers Revolt label

Born out of love for Jamacian sound clash, forged through a do it yourself punkrock ethic and delivered with a raw hip hop swagger, the unstoppable Babyhead sound is drawn from all quarters of the musical universe, in true Bristol fashion. They have been a live phenomenon in the clubs and on the festival circuit, for a decade plus, rocking stages from Glastonbury to Fabric and attracting onstage collaborations from Ozomatli, Rodney P, Alice Russell, scores of children, transvestites and a three legged one eyed dog!

Keith Allen called them “bastard child of Ian Dury and Iggy pop” while the legendary Toots Hibbert himself proclaimed the band “Irie, despite their beards and suits”.

The first single will be out on 1st June is Jungle Lore and to celebrate it’s release Babyhead will be throwing not one but two release parties…

Friday 28 May 2010 @ Paradise, 19 Kilburn Lane, Notting Hill, London
and
Sunday 30 May 2010 @ The Island, Silver Street, Bristol, BS1 2YP

Jungle Lore is the first single to be taken from Babyhead’s third and darkest album, ‘Heavy Weather’, which was recorded in Portishead’s “State Of Art” studio. Due for release in Sept’10 ‘Heavy Weather’ is a soundscape rooted in Dub, heavy skank, thunderdrums, blazing horns and sharp lyricism. It features 13 simple songs from the rural/urban landscape in the first days of a brave new century. It is a personal tale of love, life, politics, sex, death and the greatest British preoccupation – The weather.

For guest list, promo copies of the single and all press enquiries email sean@rockersrevolt.com

Babyhead – Jungle Lore b/w Jungle Law (Lupo dub) (RRHIT705) out on 1st June 2010
will be issued on ltd.edtion 7″ vinyl (only 300 hand numbered copies) and digital download
